The inaugural meeting of this new group with 12 people arriving at the Venn Valley Winery. We all had a great time - even without sampling any of the wine!
Some gentle styling of a Blackthorne had already developed in the 4 weeks since a heavy pruning to gain the overall appearance.
The theme was bent trees; windswept local trees and the ancient art of Penjing or Literati bonsai that aims to create a sense of elegance and simplicity, as well as a contrast between strength and fragility
There was no meeting in June on account of the group leader moving house.
Many folk were starting to bring their own trees in for the group to consider ways forward. Much hilarity and learning had.
More member trees and a massive range of bonsai pots made by our potter member Maggie.
A good selection of member oaks were brought in along with an introduction to Tanuki bonsai.
Indoor figs were popular this month and the request for large trees was catered for using a variety of species.
